What type of drug is Ventavis?
Ventavis is a prescription medicine used to treat the symptoms of Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension. Ventavis may be used alone or with other medications. Ventavis belongs to a class of drugs called PAH, Prostacyclin Analogs. It is not known if Ventavis is safe and effective in children.

This medication is used to treat a type of high blood pressure in the lungs (pulmonary arterial hypertension). Iloprost helps to increase your ability to exercise and improves symptoms such as shortness of breath and tiredness.
How do you Nebulize iloprost?
Iloprost inhalation solution is breathed in (inhaled) through the mouth and into the lungs. It should be used when you wake up and before any physical activity, but not more than once every 2 hours. The iloprost inhalation solution (Ventavis®) is used with a nebulizer that is connected to an air compressor.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION Ventavis should be taken 6 to 9 times per day (no more than once every 2 hours) during waking hours, according to individual need and tolerability. The maximum daily dose evaluated in clinical studies was 45 mcg (5 mcg 9 times per day).

Ventavis is usually given 6 to 9 times per day. Follow your doctor’s dosing instructions very carefully. Your doses should not be spaced less than 2 hours apart, even if you feel like the effects of the medicine have worn off in less than 2 hours. Each ampule (bottle) is for one use only.
