What is a piebald Weimaraner?
The dilute gene is present in ALL Weimaraners which makes it the distinctive gray color (or blue). The piebald gene is also recessive, meaning a dog needs two copies for the pattern to be present. That means that perhaps the piebalds of today are atavistic, in other words, “throwbacks.”
Can Weimaraners be red?
Brown Weimaraner dogs and red Weimaraner dogs are not actually true, purebred Weimaraners. Although these Weimaraner colors may be appealing to some, it is important to remember that if you want a purebred Weimaraner, you should stick with the grey.
